What Are CBD Flowers in the UK?
Before we tell you about their many uses, it’s important to know just what CBD buds/flowers are.
The dried bud of a hemp plant is known as a CBD flower. These flowers, which come from female hemp plants, are often referred to as CBD hemp buds. Once the female plant puts more effort into making flowers, it gets covered in sticky cells called trichomes. This happens as it matures and enters the flowering stage of its lifecycle. The trichomes are responsible for the production of CBD and the additional cannabinoids found in the CBD hemp flower.
When a female hemp plant does not get pollinated, it creates more trichomes which also results in the increased production of the additional cannabinoids. The CBD hemp flower is then harvested dried, cured, and sold as a smokable flower.
A common misconception about CBD flowers in the UK is that they get you high. CBD is non-psychoactive, unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which gets you high. In short, CBD does not get you high.
Hemp strains with high levels of CBD can be grown by farmers with licenses. It contains very little THC. In fact, it contains less than 0.2%. This is significantly less than the amount required to intoxicate someone.
On the contrary, CBD actually works as a THC antagonist. This means it reduces THC's intoxicating effects. So, the minute 0.2% of THC in CBD buds? It’s more or less rendered insignificant in light of the much stronger CBD agent.
How Do CBD Buds Work?
Your body has an Endocannabinoid System (ECS). CBD reacts with this system to regulate things like sleep, appetite, mood and even memory. It is often called the “boy scout molecule” as it can adapt to serve any needed purpose. CBD buds and flowers often have other useful cannabinoids, apart from CBD.
Research shows that these various cannabinoids in hemp flowers produce greater results when they are combined with one another. This is called the “Entourage Effect”. As part of the research, it was discovered that synergy occurs when the individual forms of cannabinoids function together.
For this reason, our CBD flowers in the UK promise maximum benefits – by keeping the hemp flower extract intact and not chemically resolving or separating it.
Are CBD Buds The Same As Marijuana?
While having a very similar appearance and aroma, CBD buds and marijuana have very different effects on the user. Marijuana buds contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). As you know, THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana. It’s what gets you high.
CBD flowers, on the other hand, can’t get you high. They only contain trace amounts (0.2%) of THC.
What Can CBD Flowers Help With?
As we said, CBD is a “boy scout molecule”. It can help in nearly every situation. Most people use CBD flowers in the UK to help with:
- Appetite Loss
- Reducing the frequency & intensity of seizures
The list goes on!
